G-Force

I took Tryn to see her first movie in the theater on Friday night. Stacy, a friend of mine who has two girls, invited Tryn and I to see the movie. Stacy's girls, Genesis (6) and Trinity (4), are Tryn's friends from church (don't you just love their names! Trin and Tryn!!). They help Trynica get enough courage to go sit up front every Sunday during the children sermon. They are all so cute together.

So, Stacy said that her girls really wanted to see G-Force. Since we don't have a TV (sidenote: This is not because we don't believe in TV. We just don't have room, don't have time to watch, don't want our kids watching it that much, and end up watching everything online after the girls go to bed anyway and not during actual showtimes) I had not see a preview for G-Force, but that was almost beside the point.

When we walked through the door into the theater Tryn stopped dead in her tracks with a rather dumbfounded look on her face, "Mom! What is that?" She was staring at the huge screen.

"That's just like a really big TV, sweetie. That's where we are going to watch our movie."

Pure excitement.

The only unfortunate thing is that Tryn is only used to watching animated/cartoon things and so when the movie had actually started she turned to me and asked, "Mom, when is the movie going to start?" Oops!

She had a blast though. We got popcorn and candy and had a grand time. Tryn is already talking about next time. Once I thought about the fact that next time is still going to cost me $10 to see a kid's movie that I don't really care about seeing, "next time" is probably going to include the dollar theater or a matinee instead of a Friday night. It was definitely worth the fun evening and a chance to hang out with Stacy and her girls, we adults had some pretty good laughs during the movie. But I have just entered a new world of seeing kid's movies, not because I want to see them but because someone else really wants to see them. There are probably going to be many more next times. I love the dollar theater.

This also brought up the conversation with several different people...Do you remember the first movie you saw in the theater? I can't, but lots of people can. Maybe one of my siblings or parents know what my first movie was. I would love to hear about it if you can remember what your first theater movie was!!

hm...since Beauty and the Beast was released in 1991 I am pretty sure that was not my first movie. I feel like I was a lot younger when I saw my first movie...I wish I could remember!!

Thankfully, more and more "kid" movies have lines that are incredibly funny only if you've been around the planet for awhile!

I remember going to see the original Star Wars movie - that or maybe Sleeping Beauty was likely my first theater movie.
