My Birthday

It was my birthday yesterday. It was a good birthday. I actually had to work all day, which was a big bummer - I think that might have been the first time I have ever worked on my birthday, I usually take it off. I didn't have enough PTO left to want to take a day off though, not when the holidays are quickly approaching, so I worked. My co-workers took me out for lunch and made a huge sign that they hung over my computer that everyone signed, which was fun.

Then we had a group of friends over for dinner and my friend Amy made me my birthday cake - which wasn't really cake. It was Grasshopper Pie (mint ice cream with Oreo crust and fudge on top. so.good.), but I requested it because it is pretty much 100x's better than cake.

And my friend Paisley helped me blow out the candle as my girls were already in bed.

My girls (along with the help of Larissa) made me some cake too! It was so great, I got home from work and they were sitting on the stools in the kitchen just yelling at me, "Cake! Mom, we made you cake!! Happy Birthday! Cake! Ah!!" It was adorable. They decorated the cakes themselves too. There were two, one said "Happy Birthday" and the other "To Mom, Love Your Girls". I forgot to take pictures before we cut into the other one though...but it pretty much looked exactly like this one. Lots and lots of sprinkles and super cool candles :)

This time the girls helped me blow out the candles.

And, just because she looks so much cuter with a messy face than I do, here is a picture of Berlin eating my birthday cake.

All clean!

Probably one of the greatest things about my birthday was Tryn's excitement leading up to it. She was hilarious, telling me things like," Mom, mom, it's gonna be your birthday soon!! Lots of kids are gonna give me presents and I will give them to you mom! I will give them ALL to you and it will be so fun!"

"What are you going to get me Tryn?"

"I am going to get you princess dresses, princess shoes, and princess napkins. And lots of princess things! It will be so exciting!" She's adorable.

Though for as excited as she was about me getting presents, she didn't even get to see me open them. I opened them at my pre-birthday party on Tuesday night with a couple of other friends.

Steve was a stinker. Tuesday afternoon when I was at work my phone stopped working. I have had many a problem with phones deciding to quit working on me, but then I usually have one until it breaks down anyway. AND, I seem to have this problem with phones breaking within a few months after the warranty has expired, which was the case here.

I was frustrated and annoyed that my phone wasn't working, someone told me that I would probably have to get it reset - which would wipe out all the information - and then maybe it would work again. Maybe.

However, later that night when I opened my presents I found out that the reason my phone was not working is because my husband had bought me an iPhone and activated it that afternoon, therefore inactivating my old one. Sneaky boy.

Oh, and it not only rained on my birthday - as it normally does - but tornado sirens went off, seriously, right around the same time I was born so many years ago, 2:00 in the afternoon and there was a tornado about three miles from our house. Hmmm.
